Author Clifford Zink to discuss ‘The Roebling Legacy’

Hopewell Valley Historical Society is set to host a presentation about the Roebling and their Trenton-based wire rope company.

Historian Clifford Zink is scheduled to present The Roebling Legacy 7 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Hopewell Branch of the Mercer County Library, 245 Pennington-Titusville Road, Hopewell. Admission is free.

Zink will highlight the legacy of the Roeblings and their company, which was once one of New Jersey’s largest manufacturers. The Roeblings designed and built the Brooklyn Bridge and built the cables on the George Washington and Golden Gate Bridges. Their wire rope products helped shape modern life. They created America’s “first sports car,” provided livelihoods for tens of thousands, and built one of the best company towns in America.

Clifford Zink is a consultant based in Princeton. He received the 2012 New Jersey Author’s Award in popular non-fiction from the N.J. Studies Academic Alliance for his book, The Roebling Legacy.
