The New Jersey State Library’s Author Talk series is set to continue with three events scheduled for February and March.
Upcoming talks highlight a local culinary hot spot, St. Patrick’s Day, and women’s history.
Author Paul Jellinek is set to discuss his book, Fred and Pete’s: They’re All Nuts, on Feb. 5. Jellinek’s book tells the story of Fred and Pete’s Deli & Luncheonette, located in a strip mall at 336 Highway 33 in Mercerville, and the people on both sides of the counter who have made it what it is for more than 50 years.
On March 12, professor Thomas Callahan, Jr., is set present a St. Patrick’s Day-themed Author Talk. During his presentation, Callahan will discuss his desire to come to know two generations of his family, how the individual portraits of family members may be viewed in the context of history and the challenges facing those who wish to research their own family members.
“Martha Washington” is set to recount tales about her eight years as the country’s first First Lady, and dishes out some “dirt” on some of the others, as well, on March 26. Maggie Worsdale, a jazz singer and entertainer with the Traveling Literary Theater, dresses the part of Martha Washington for this presentation.
Author Talks are scheduled for 12 to 1 p.m. in the State Library’s second floor reading room, 185 West State St., Trenton.
