On Saturday, Nov. 15, law enforcement officers joined Trenton Council 355 of the Knights of Columbus in honoring five local heroes for their demonstration of exemplary conduct in the line of duty.
The Knights of Columbus Shield Award dinner was held at the Stone Terrace in Hamilton, where Sheriff Officers Ralph MacKelvey and Anibal Santos, Sheriff’s Detective William Miller and Trenton Detectives James Letts and Edgar Rios were each presented with a Resolution of Commendation and a Resolution of Appreciation from the Trenton City Council by Councilwoman Marge Caldwell Wilson, Trenton Police Director Ernest Parrey and Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami-Covello.
Kenneth Rhodes, Grand Knight of Trenton Council 355, promised that the Council will make a donation to each of the honoree’s designated charities.
Paul Donini, District Deputy for the Council announced that the names of Sheriff Officers Ralph MacKelvey and Anibal Santos will be submitted to the New Jersey Knights of Columbus State Council Shield Award Committee for consideration for the 2014 New Jersey State Council Shield Award. This award will be presented to the Statewide Shield Award winner at the Knights of Columbus annual convention, to be held this coming May in Wildwood.
