The Nature Center at Washington Crossing State Park in Titusville is set to offer several activities in April.
On Sunday April 6, Dr. Ken Kremer of the Amateur Astronomy Association of Princeton will lead a program titled Curiosity, Maven and the Search for Life on Mars (3-D) & the 5/1 Antares Launch from Virginia.
He explain the latest discoveries of the Curiosity rover’s expedition across the surface of Mars and show his clean room and launch pad photographs, spectacular 3-D images of the Martian surface and his Curiosity photo-mosaics. He will also describe NASA’s new MAVEN Mars orbiter and how the public can see the upcoming Antares rocket launch from a Virginia launch pad to the International Space Station.
The program is open to people of all age and will last from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
On April 12 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. there will be a program called Shelter Building Wilderness Survival open for children of six years and above as well as adults.
The program will deal with the fundamentals of survival when lost in the wild. Participants will construct a weatherproof shelter complete from native materials.
On April 13 at 1:30 p.m., Robyn Henderek of Lafayette College will give a program titled Kenya’s Turkana Basin Institute.
Henderek has just returned from ten weeks of Study at the Turkana Basin Institute and will discuss the geology and ecology of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, the Turkana People, African wildlife, anthropology and human evolution.
The program is open to people of all ages.
On April 27 at 1:30 p.m., there will be a Bike Hike.
This program consists of a guided bicycle ride up the Delaware & Raritan Canal Towpath toward the Lambertville wing dam. The trip is approximately 13 miles round trip.
The program is for pre-teens and older and advanced registration is required.
Participants will meet at the Nelson House parking lot.
