Lamplight Players are set to present Jason Robert Brown’s Songs for a New World this spring.
Described as an abstract musical, the score, which ranges in influence from pop to gospel to jazz, conveys the theme of the show, which is the moment of decision.
The cast of seven is set to take audience members on a series of emotional journeys, as they experience the characters’ fear and faith, struggles and triumphs, and hopes and dreams.
Julian Azan of Chesterfield, who audience members may remember as Victor Frankenstein in the Lamplight Players’ production of Frankenstein last fall, is set to play “Man 4.”
A newcomer to the Lamplight Players stage, Jaclyn Biancaniello, of Hainesport, will play “Woman 2.”
Lamplight Player veteran, Tyler Boring, of Shamong, joins the cast as “Man 3.” He previously performed in BCC’s Frankenstein, Bat Boy and Barefoot in the Park.
Thomas Coppolecchia, a theater major from Bordentown, has performed with the Lamplight Players in their productions of Little Shop of Horrors, The Crucible and Godspell. He will play “Man 2.”
Mount Holly resident Vera Motley will take the stage with the Lamplight Players for the first time as “Woman 3.”
Laura Orlando, of Marlton, who was Audrey in BCC’s production of Little Shop of Horrors, will play “Woman 1.”
Mike Wemer, a math major at BCC and resident of Mount Holly, will join the Lamplight Players for the second time since his performance in BCC’s Bat Boy, as “Man 1.”
This year’s production is also made possible by the stage managers, Sean Crowley, of Marlton, and Matthew Nehring, of Maple Shade.
Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. April 9, 11 and 12; and 2 p.m. April 13 at the Enterprise Center, located on the college’s Mount Laurel campus, 3331 Route 38.
Tickets are $12 for general admission and $7 for BCC students. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at bcc.edu/theatre.
Established in 2003, the Lamplight Players is a student theatrical group that performs at BCC.
