Area writers and artists are invited to submit their work for possible inclusion in Kelsey Review 2014, an arts journal published annually by Mercer County Community College.
The review accepts short fiction, poetry, personal essays, excerpts of novels, black and white line drawings and cartoons by those who live, work or study in Mercer County.
Fiction and essays should be limited to 4,000 words. Poetry should be limited to six pages. Material can be on any topic, but should not have been previously published or be simultaneously submitted to other journals.
The deadline for all submissions is scheduled for May 15.
Submissions may be made by mail or email. If sending by mail, authors and artists are asked to send disposable manuscripts with their name on each page of the submission to Kelsey Review, Liberal Arts Division, Mercer County Community College, P.O. Box 17202, Trenton, NJ 08690. Those submitting electronically are asked to query first by emailing kelsey.review@mccc.edu.
Four-person editorial board chaired by MCCC English Professor Ed Carmien is set to make decisions in June and July. Contributors will be notified by the second week of August.
Kelsey Review is distributed free to libraries and bookstores.
Area residents and groups are encouraged to support the arts in Mercer County by sponsoring Kelsey Review. Sponsorships help to underwrite the publication and distribution costs for this unique literary arts journal. Sponsors will have their logo or other information printed on the front or rear inside cover page.
More information, including online versions of editions from prior years, is online at mccc.edu/kelseyreview.
