Bag of Bones Barkery owner Gregg Bernhardt presents a check for $500.78 to It’s a Ruff Life Rescue fundraiser coordinator Lauren Brennan as part of the store’s Round Up 4 Rescue Program.
Bag of Bones Barkery in Hamilton raised more than $500 for It’s a Ruff Life Rescue program in April.
The donation is part of the pet bakery and retail store’s Round Up 4 Rescue, which gives customers the opportunity to donate to a local rescue organization each month.
Store owner Gregg Bernhardt started Round Up 4 Rescue in March. The program provides customers making a purchase the option to round up their transaction to the nearest dollar to benefit a different local rescue each month.
April’s donations were given to The Shelter Animal Project, and the benefiting organization in May is Pet Rescue of Mercer.
“The Round Up 4 Rescue Program has been a wonderful way for us to make it easy, convenient and inexpensive for our customers to have the pleasure of directly helping local animal rescue organizations that so desperately need these funds,” Bernhardt said in a statement.
Bernhardt also noted that customers always have the option to donate more than just their “round up” amount. Those who choose to do so can donate any amount they’d like at checkout. All donations are added together for the monthly donation.
It’s a Ruff Life Rescue co-founders Kristin Mercer and Christina Lorusso already have plans to put the donation to use. Bag of Bones Barkery’s donation helps It’s a Ruff Life spay/neuter four dogs.
