The Political Book Club it set to discuss Urban Schools: Crisis and Revolution at its May meeting.
The club meets 7 p.m. each month at the Lawrence Library, 2751 Brunswick Pike, Lawrenceville.
Meetings feature a lively discussion of political issues from the right, center and left. Club members encourage individuals with diverse political opinions to join the discussion; it is not necessary to read the book in order to join in the discussion.
Urban Schools authors Carmen Catanese and James Deneen are set to speak at the meeting.
Deneen is retired from Educational Testing Service, where he was a program director for the Advanced Placement Program.
Catanese is a co-founder of Citizens for Successful Schools. He is retired from the Sarnoff Corporation, where he was executive vice-president.
In addition to Urban Schools, the month’s reading includes Reign of Error: The Hoax of the Privatization Movement and the Danger to America’s Public Schools by Diane Ravitch.
