Cooperative Trail Photography Project launched by New Jersey Trails Association, D&R Greenway Land Trust, and Princeton Photography Club, calls for photography of preserved nature trails for websites and upcoming exhibition in D&R Greenway’s “Understanding Trails Through Photography.”

New Jersey Trails association features properties in Burlington, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, and Somerset counties. Images may range from journalistic to impressionistic to abstract. The group is interested in scenes of New Jersey flora, fauna, the site’s unique geographic features, and the lure of trails themselves. Color photographs taken since January, 2013, are preferred.

Photographers should submit digital high resolution 4×6 (vertical or horizontal) at 150 pixel/inch images via E-mail to ppcnjtrails@gmail.com. Include property name in subject line and in body of E-mail. The photographer’s name, subject description, and date of image are required. No age or residency restrictions.

Are you Ready?

National Hurricane Preparedness Week begins May 25 to advise residents to plan and prepare for potential tropical storms this summer and fall. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30, although the peak time for hurricane and tropical storm activity in New Jersey is mid-August to late October.

Put together a kit of emergency supplies that includes a three-day supply of canned, non-perishable, ready-to-eat food; a three-day supply of water (a total of 3 gallons per family member); a battery-operated radio and extra batteries; a flashlight and extra batteries; and a first aid kit.

Make a plan for what you and your family will do during an emergency. This includes knowing how to evacuate and how to “shelter in place,” which means stay home and avoid driving if at all possible.

Stay informed of possible threats by tuning in to your local media outlets for the latest breaking weather news and register for the Alert-MercerCounty emergency notification system at https://mercercounty.onthealert.com.
