Mercer County Professional Counselors Association presented their 18th Annual Scholarship Awards May 29.
Three different scholarships were presented to nine area high school seniors.
The Caring for Humanity award is based on commitment to service in the community or at school, Meeting the Challenge scholarship acknowledges the academic work of students overcoming an obstacle, and Many Languages One Ambition recognizes outstanding English as a Second Language students.
Counselors from public and parochial high schools in Mercer County who are members of MCPCA presented their students with certificates acknowledging the recipients’ many accomplishments.
Winners are Hamilton High School West student Pierre Laguerre; Hightstown High School student Briana Kupper; Nottingham High School student Nick DeMarie; Steinert High School students Ivett Figueroa, Ryan Fink, Astrid Garcia, Maeve McCann and Gifty Ebambe Nyamekye; and West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South student Anna Brosowsky.
Two recipients achieved the highest rank in Girl Scouting by completing their Gold Award. Another recipient served as president of his school’s Key Club, leading their service initiative. Other scholarship winners were recognized for coaching for Special Olympics, tutoring younger students at church, or using vacation hours refurbishing housing in Appalachia.
All scholarship winners demonstrated outstanding academic success and many are members of National Honor Society.
