In May, Regent Floor Covering celebrated its 50th year in business offering a wide selection of flooring, from carpet to wood and everything in between, as well as professional design and remodeling services.
The business is located at 7 Route 31 North in Pennington. The two owners, Joe Rossi and Jay Kuti, are highly involved in all aspects of the business, said operations manager, Christina Hughes, who has been with Regent for more than 16 years.
“Joe’s father originally owned Regent, and Joe started working here as a kid. Eventually they brought in Jay, and Joe’s dad, Felix, retired about 5 years ago,” she said.
Staff members say Regent offers a level of hands-on service that can’t be equaled by competitors in the market. In addition to their commitment to professionalism and stellar service, Hughes said, Regent has a designer on staff.
“We are ready and willing to work through the entire process with you, including coming out to your home to help ensure your satisfaction throughout the whole process.” she said.
Regent also offers carpet cleaning and maintenance for shades and shutters.
Joe Rossi, owner of Regent Floor Covering joked that he has been working in the family business since he was in diapers. He started working there in 1982, after school and on weekends.
Rossi said his favorite part was being able to get his hands into everything.
“I liked seeing all the different jobs we could do and learning how to do them. I think what I have always liked best of all is meeting all of the different customers that came in to our shop and building a relationship with them,” he said. “It is something I watched my father do and something I grew to love. Long-standing relationships make for great business.”
Rossi emphasized that the folks at Regent see every job to the finish.
“We like to see the before and the after, and the difference it makes in a home or business,” he said.
Rossi and Kuti also said they take pride in offering services and installations that many places don’t do anymore, like custom, high-end projects.
“It’s challenging and rewarding,” Rossi said. “We have the most experience of our competitors, and we have all been doing this a long time. Our team has lots of talent, and we have been honored with various awards.”
Kuti actually first worked for Regent as an installer, in the 1980s. “My dad and I recognized his skill, and thought he would make a great asset to the management team. We are lucky to have him on board,” Rossi said.
