The American Heart Association is seeking nominations for the Greater Mercer Heart Walk Lifestyle Change Award.
The award, sponsored locally by NJM Insurance Group, recognizes people or groups who have made changes that have impacted their quality of life and improved their health. AHA will recognize winners at the Greater Mercer Heart Walk, scheduled for Sept. 7 at Mercer County Park in West Windsor.
Examples of healthy lifestyle changes include starting an exercise program, reducing stress levels, incorporating better eating habits, quitting smoking and managing blood pressure and cholesterol.
“No change is too small and every accomplishment is significant,” NJM spokesperson Eric Stenson said in a statement. “NJM wholeheartedly supports healthy living in the communities in which our policyholders and employees live and work. The Lifestyle Change Award is focused on celebrating those in our community who are taking the message of getting healthy to heart.”
Nominations for the Lifestyle Change Award can be submitted by friends, co-workers or relatives or individuals can nominate themselves. The deadline is scheduled for Aug. 1.
In order to be considered, individuals must be non-smokers or smoke-free for at a minimum of six months.
