The Hopewell Valley Senior Book Group is scheduled to met 1 to 2:30 p.m. July 14 at the Hopewell Valley Senior Center, 395 Reading St., Pennington. Diane Miller of Mercer County Library is set to lead a discussion of Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard. An Aging in Place meeting is scheduled for 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. A working group is forming in Hopewell Valley for people who are interested in aging in place. The group meets throughout the summer to determine if there are enough participants to create an official group. The group is currently assessing what groups members needs and ideas about aging in place in Hopewell Valley are.
A talk on the State Health Insurance Assistance Program is set for 6 to 7:30 p.m. July 15 at the senior center. Mercer County SHIP coordinator Angie Melo is set to lead the meeting.
SHIP provides free help to New Jersey Medicare beneficiaries who have problems with, or questions about their health insurance. Medicare beneficiaries frequently have questions about benefits and claims, supplement policies, and long-term care insurance. Volunteer counselors, trained in areas of health insurance coverage and benefits that affect Medicare beneficiaries, provide information and assistance for dealing with claims and in evaluating health insurance needs.
