The Arts Council of Princeton’s fall 2014 Artist in Residence, critically acclaimed Flamenco dancer Lisa Botalico, is set to lead several workshops in the fall.
Botalico and visual artist Libby Ramage are set to lead free workshops for children and adults called The Fire of Flamenco 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 6.
A Flamenco workshop for children is scheduled to take place from 1 to 1:45pm, followed by a separate dance workshop for adults from 2 to 3pm. While the adults are learning Flamenco, Ramage is set to lead children in creating Flamenco-inspired assemblages.
The Fire of Flamenco is set to take place at ACP Pop-Up Studio in the Princeton Shopping Center, 301 North Harrison St., Princeton.
Botalico is set to lead a public forum called Why We Dance Flamenco: Intergenerational Dance Dialogues, as part of ACP’s free fall open house. The talk is scheduled for 2 to 3 p.m. Sept. 14 in the Paul Robeson Center’s Dance Studio, 102 Witherspoon St., Princeton.
Dancers from diverse backgrounds and ages are set to join Botalico to verbally discuss their Flamenco pursuit and visually demonstrate their personal connection to it with solo dance performances, accompanied by a live Flamenco guitarist and singer.
Ramage and Botalico are set to team up again for Finding Light through Fire 7:30 p.m. Oct. 18 in ACP’s Solley Theater.
Finding Light through Fire is comprised of original dances, music and Flamenco-inspired art created live during this multi-dimensional performance. Art works created during the Sept. 6 workshop will be displayed outside the Solley Theater during the final performance. Tickets are $20 for general public and $18 for ACP Members, students and seniors.
