Princeton Learning Cooperative seeks volunteers to work with teen members for the upcoming academic year. PLC volunteers work with our members in a variety of academic and non-academic areas through tutoring, leading classes or activities, or offering one-time workshops.
Although they are interested in any volunteer who has a passion to work with teens, they are specifically looking for volunteers in linguistics, writing, math, chemistry, nature, meteorology, anatomy, geology, evolution, marine biology, animal behavior, psychology, military history, history of weapons, world history, philosophy, ancient history, Japanese, German, Korean, Swedish, Chinese, French, Italian, Spanish, programming, architecture, computer projects, animation, accordion, piano, harp, filmmaking, and cooking.
There is an open house for families interested in knowing more about PLC’s approach to learning without school by creating a personalized education based on their interests, goals, and abilities. Good Grief provides free support to hundreds of children and families each year after the death of a mom, dad, brother, or sister. Facilitators create a safe and caring environment where children, teens, and families can express themselves, care for each other. and rebuild their lives together. They listen without judgment or criticism and offer hope by building an understanding community.
Requirements include compassion, commitment, and a willingness to learn. Facilitator training will be Friday to Monday, August 22 to 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 12 Stocktown Street, Princeton. Womanspace seeks volunteers to partner with local police to help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The 80-hour trainings for Domestic Violence Victim Response team (DVVRT) members and Sexual Assault Support Services (SASS) Advocates begin in September.
Qualifications include the ability to communicate well with others, being a good listener, and maintaining confidentiality. Interested persons must be 18 years of age or older, as well as a resident of or employee in the Mercer County area with a valid driver’s license, available transportation, and the ability to attend training and meetings.
Volunteers cannot have either a criminal history or prior history as a defendant in a domestic violence or sexual assault-related matter. Trained volunteers must be available to respond to call-outs at police departments or hospitals two to four shifts per month.

Auditions
Maurer Productions OnStage has auditions for “Count Dracula” on Saturday, August 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, August 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mercer Community College in West Windsor. Actors should be mid 20s to mid 60s.

Call for Art
South Brunswick Library seeks artists to create a mural. Draw a favorite flower on a black, square background. All mediums compatible with a black background are acceptable. Image must be one whole real flower or cluster; not a partial image or fantasy image. Image may also feature a small critter. Image may be drawn or created from a photograph or from an original rendering. Each artist may submit two images or two separate flowers. Deadline is Monday, August 18. For Singers

VOICES is seeking additional singers with good reading skills for the next concert season. Altos and basses are especially needed, but singers in all voice parts are encouraged to audition. There are also a few openings in Sotto Voce, the chamber chorus.
