Several writers from West Windsor and Plainsboro were published in U.S. 1 newspaper’s annual summer fiction issue on July 23. They will be introduced at a reception for the writers and poets at Tre Piani, Forrestal Village, Plainsboro, on Thursday, August 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. From West Windsor:
Short story authors include Dagmar Venizelos (“Lunchtime Conversations”), who has worked for many years in the Princeton corporate environment and is now using her language and writing skills as a translator for foreign languages and writing fictional short stories as a hobby.
John Hartmann (“Stand Up”) was raised in West Windsor, is an attorney, a former member of the New Jersey State Assembly, and the author of “Jacket: The Trials of a New Jersey Criminal Defense Attorney.”
Vicki Weisfeld (“War of the Worlds”) began writing fiction seriously in 2005, has had short stories appear in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine and U.S.1, has completed a thriller set in Rome. She is affiliated with the West Windsor Writers Group.
Poets include Corey Langer (“Flannel Goddess”), who is a professor of medicine and director of thoracic oncology at the University of Pennsylvania and is active in Delaware Valley Poets.
Edith McGowan (“Jigsaw”) is a member of Delaware Valley Poets, New Jersey Poet Society, Poetry Circle, and several book and writers groups.
Frank Cioffi (“New Jersey Winter 2014”) has taught at Indiana University, Eastern New Mexico University, the University of Gdansk, Central Washington University, Princeton University, Bard College, and Scripps College. He is the writing director at Baruch College.
Ilene Dube (“How Will We Know?”) is a former president of West Windsor Arts Council and a frequent contributor to U.S. 1’s Preview section.
Janaki Giri (“Transit of Venus”) is a practicing physician in Old bridge an a student of the creative writing class offered by the senior center at West Windsor.
Michele Bouchard (“There Is a Long Wait for Parking Permits in New Jersey”) is a member of the West Windsor Senior Center writing group and has been a member of Delaware Valley Poets and Poets House poetry workshops.
From Plainsboro:
Short story authors include Babette Levin (“Last Trip With Father”), who is a nonfiction writer and psychotherapist who studies writing with Lauren Davis.
E. E. Whiting (“Stream of Consciousness”) is a ghostwriter and longtime reader for the Summer Fiction issue.
Nikki Stern (“Interior Design”) is a non-fiction writer and author of “Hope in Small Doses.”
O.C. Ezeadi (“Falling In”) is a finance manager at Novo Nordisk and a member of the Princeton Writing Group.
