Off-Broadstreet, Hopewell’s dessert theatre, announced its line up for the 2014-15 season.
The season is set to begin with A Little Murder Never Hurt Anybody, which runs until late September.
The comedy begins with husband and wife Matthew and Julia making New Year’s vows. Julia’s vow is to read Dr. Zhavago while Matthew’s is to kill his wife so he can enjoy himself to the fullest. Soon their daughter Bunny announces her engagement to Donald with a wedding in one year. While Julia is determined to attend her daughter’s wedding, Matthew is hoping to finally fulfill his resolution. Buttram, the family butler, has a secret to reveal, makes a delightful discovery of his own and follows with a surprise announcement. A bumbling detective tries to uncover the facts surrounding several mishaps at the family estate including the poisoning of the entire garden club, a statue falling, an electrocution and more.
A Little Murder Never Hurt Anybody is scheduled to run weekends Aug. 29 through Sept. 27.
The cast includes Steve Decker (Morrisville, Pa.), John Helmke (Hamilton), Ally Hern (Lawrenceville), Sean Magnacca (North Brunswick), Kyla Mostello Donnelly (Levittown, Pa.) and Rob Risch of (Warrington, Pa.).
The Gin Game, a comedy about two seniors passing their days playing what appears to be an innocent game of cards, is scheduled for weekends Oct. 10 through Nov. 8.
The third show in Off-Broadstreet’s season is is the musical Little Women, which is set to open Nov. 21 running through the holidays and closing Jan. 3.
Always A Bridesmaid is scheduled for weekends Jan. 16 to Feb. 14. The comedy is about a group of four ladies who 30 years ago vowed to be there for each other’s weddings. The show finds these ladies navigating the choppy waters of love and matrimony on multiple occasions.
A.R. Gurney’s Family Furniture is set for weekends Feb. 27 through March 28. Set in the 1950s, Gurney looks at a family that has to decide which is more important, keeping up appearances or honesty.
Performances are scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Friday and Saturday evenings doors open at 7 p.m. for dessert with shows beginning at 8 p.m. Sunday matinees open 1:30 p.m. for dessert with curtain at 2:30 p.m.
Prices range from $27 to $31.50 including dessert and show.
