Emma Levy of West Windsor won her fourth James E. Cryan Memorial Tennis Tournament championship title in the Women’s Open division, the most for any female in the tournament’s history. Top-seeded Levy defeated Alexis Dorr, 6-3, 6-4, for the win on July 31.
Levy, a 2009 graduate of the Lawrenceville School, was a four-time All-Conference USA and All-Louisiana performer on the women’s tennis team at Tulane University. She graduated in 2013 with a degree in public health and is currently enrolled in an MBA program there and also works in Tulane’s athletic department.
The tournament was founded in 1965 after the death of 42-year-old James E. Cryan from Hodgkins disease. Cryan was an avid contributor to the sport of tennis in the Trenton area. For more information, visit cryantennis.com.

The WWLL/CPLL 11U softball team is the 2014 state champions after defeating Elmer, 9-6, on August 10. Kate Kelly got the win on the mound, while also contributing four RBI. The team had an strong offensive attack with 11 hits, highlighted by Kaitlyn St. Amour’s 4-for-4 performance, and RBI from Kaleigh McCarron, Emily Matcham, Allie Rome and Kate Liggio.
