Thanks to the generosity of Mercer County employees, residents, businesses and civic groups, less fortunate local children will have toys to open this holiday season.
More than 1,000 new, unwrapped toys were collected during this year’s Holiday Toy Drive, sponsored by the County Executive and the Mercer County Park Commission. County Executive Brian M. Hughes presented boxes of donated gifts to Sgt. Darlene Gonzalez, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program representative, at the Park Commission Headquarters at the Historic Hunt House on Dec. 16.
“These gifts will go to children whose families might be struggling this holiday season,” Mr. Hughes said. “I am moved by the compassion of our employees and friends of Mercer County government whose generosity will bring smiles to many children’s faces.”
