The Mercer County Special Services School District was awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials International.
The district was recognized for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending 2012. This is the first year the district submitted for the honor.
The district’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report was reviewed by professionals from governmental accounting and auditing in the fields of consulting, certified public accounting, and school system financial management.
The ASBO award confirms Mercer County Special Services School District’s commitment to financial accountability and transparency.
“The business office is to be commended for achieving this great honor on the first submission. The district remains focused on demonstrating effectiveness and prudence in managing their funds,” Camille Rainier, president of the Mercer County Special Services School District’s Board of Education, said in a statement .
The Mercer County Special Services School District provides programs for disabled, autistic and emotionally disturbed students in pre-school through young adulthood. Through the collaborative efforts of staff, family, sending districts and community, the district supports all students with the skills necessary to successfully function in their environment.
