Mayor Dave Fried is set to accept the 2013 PlanSmart NJ Economic Development Achievement Award on behalf of Robbinsville Township and Matrix Business Park Nov. 14.
Robbinsville is the first municipality to be honored with the Economic Development Achievement Award since the inception of the category in 2007. PlanSmart is honoring the township for recent economic growth, including luring Amazon and McKesson Corporation Matrix Business Park at 7A.
Amazon is scheduled to begin shipping from its new order fulfillment facility in late spring, 2014. The company is expected to bring in $22 million in revenue over the next 20 years, in addition to providing 1,400 permanent jobs and more during the holiday season.
McKesson is expected to generate $6.5 million over the next 10 years and provide approximately 140 full-time jobs.
“We have generated ratables from Fortune 500 and other very successful companies that will help us hold the line on taxes and ensure our ability to slash debt in the years to come,” Fried said in a statement.
EDAA recognizes those that have demonstrated outstanding leadership in promoting economic development in a way that is respectful of the principles of smart growth.
Smart growth is defined as improving the regional economic base, connecting jobs to housing and transportation, promoting growth in areas where infrastructure is planned or already exists and promoting opportunities for all state residents.
Fried credits his staff, led by business administrator Joy Tozzi and economic development director Tim McGough, for bringing in projects on time and on budget.
Fried is set to accept the award during the 45th annual PlanSmart NJ Awards at the Heldrich Hotel in New Brunswick.
