Hamilton resident Jay Tyson attended the State Assembly’s approval of a resolution to release Baha’i prisoners in Iran.
Tyson joined a group of Baha’is from several New Jersey communities to support bill AR-176 with its primary co-sponsor and Assembly Deputy Speaker Upendra Chivukula.
Other primary sponsors of the bi-partisan legislation included Daniel Benson, as well as Jon Bramnick and John McKeon.
The measure also called for fair treatment of the Baha’i community in that country, which is the youngest of the world’s monotheistic religions with more than five million adherents in 236 countries and territories, drawn from every nationality, ethnic group and religious background.
