Sections of Route 29 in Trenton are set to be closed for construction and the Trenton Half Marathon.
On Nov. 2, the right travel lane and shoulder on Route 29 northbound, as well as the Calhoun Street exit ramp, are scheduled to be closed 6 a.m. to about 5 p.m. The closure is a safety precaution while an existing apartment building located adjacent to the highway is demolished.
Route 29 northbound motorists destined for Calhoun Street will be rerouted through the Calhoun Street interchange to their destination.
In the case of rain, the demolition work may be moved to Nov. 3.
The following weekend, a section of Route 29 in Trenton is scheduled to be closed for the Trenton Half Marathon Nov. 9.
Route 29 and all access ramps to the highway are set to be closed between Route 129 and Lower Ferry Road from 6 a.m. to about 12:30 p.m. In addition, the “Trenton Makes” bridge as well as the Calhoun Street Bridge will also be closed in both directions.
A detour is set to be in place for Route 29 motorists during the race.
Southbound motorists will be directed onto Lower Ferry Road to Parkway Avenue to Olden Avenue to Route 1 south back to Route 29.
Northbound motorists will be directed to use Route 129 north where they can access local Trenton streets or Route 1 north for through traffic, which will then take Olden Avenue to Parkway Avenue to Lower Ferry Road back to Route 29.
The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission is set to handle the closures of the two bi-state bridges. Traffic management for the event is set to be handled by the Trenton Police Department with an NJDOT Incident Management Response Team on hand.
