The Third Annual New Jersey One-Minute Play Festival is set for Jan. 19 and 20 at 8 p.m.
The festival is set to take place at Mill Hill Playhouse, 205 East Front St., Trenton.
One-Minute Play Festival founder Dominic D’Andrea said the company partnered with Mill Hill performing group Passage Theatre to present the event.
“I’m so thrilled to be working with Passage Theatre, they have done a tremendous amount of work with local playwrights, and their growing regional and national reputation as a home for new work is an exciting thing to be a part of,” D’Andrea said.
The festival is set to feature 50 new One-Minute Plays by about 30 playwrights with New Jersey roots.
D’Andrea said playwrights are selected by invitation and are encouraged to write about anything they are passionate about. Completed plays are organized into “clumps” according to their theme which are then staged by a team of directors and actors.
Passage Theatre’s associate artistic director, David Lee White, has written plays for OPMF for two years. He said he is excited for the opportunity to host the festival.
“OPMF is one of the most unique, thrill-a-minute, literally, a minute, theatrical events I’ve ever been a part of,” White said.
The festival is set to feature works by EM Lewis, Lynne Elson, Hope Gatto, Kegan Lusk, David Lee White, Jim Christy, Jr., Jackie Goldfinger, Ian August, Barry Putt, Stan Werse, Sonya Aronowitz, Jessica Bedford, Pia Wilson, Clare Drobot, Chisa Hutchinson, Joe Parzycki, Dano Madden, Nicole Pandolfo, Erica Berman, Webb Wilcoxen, Benjamin Marshall, Christine J Schmidt, Amy Witting, Megan Hart, KJ Sanchez, Carrie Louise Nutt and David J. Loehr.
The plays are set to be directed by David Lee White, David Witnitsky, Steve Gaissert, Nick Anselmo Tommy Butler, and Trent Blanton.
The Mill Hill Playhouse said tickets are $15 and space is limited.
