Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes welcomed a March of Dime’s child ambassador at the county’s kick-off March 6.
Eight-year-old Nina Centofanti, 8, of Mason, Ohio, who is touring the country with her parents to help March for Babies fundraising.
Hughes thanked Centofanti for visiting and representing premature babies across the country.
“We’ve got a child here who was born prematurely but has grown up in quite a normal fashion, I can tell by the way she likes to run around and have a good time. I want to thank you for being here today, U.S. ambassador,” Hughes said at the kick off.
March for Babies, formerly WalkAmerica, began in 1970 to raise funds and promote awareness and prevention of premature birth and related birth defects. It is the March of Dimes’ largest fundraiser.
Mercer County’s March for Babies is scheduled for April 21 at Mercer County Park in West Windsor. The five-mile walk is set to begin at 9 a.m.
