Rocky Hill Exxon station manager Jaswinda Singh presents James Witherspoon Middle School principal Jason Burr and students Adam Van Buren and Drake Marsaly and teacher Randy Casey a $500 check from ExxonMobil’s Math and Science Initiative to further their robotics program on March 15, 2013.
Exxon Mobil’s National Math and Science Initiative awarded John Witherspoon Middle School a $500 grant to further the school’s robotics program.
Rocky Hill Exxon Station manager, Jaswinda Singh, nominated the school for the grant. This is the third year he nominated them.
Principal Jason Burr, STEM teacher Randy Casey and eighth graders Drake Marsaly and Adam Van Buren accepted the grant on behalf of the school. Marsaly and Van Buren said they are very excited about the robotics program.
The grant was presented by Singh and Joseph Hooven of Consumers Oil Corporation.
The Math and Science Initiative is a a nonprofit program that aims to advancement of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education throughout the country.
