The Computer Learning Center is set to celebrate it’s 20th anniversary with an afternoon of computer tips and tricks April 2.
The center will offer four free presentations at their location in the Ewing Senior and Community Center, 999 Lower Ferry Road.
Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. for registration. Refreshments will be served.
A program about the history of CLC is set to kick off the event at 1 p.m.
Free Programs You Should Have on Your Computer is set for 1:45 for 2:15 p.m.
Instructor, a retired director of asset management with PSE&G, Steve Kieley will discuss which free programs are safe and reliable for use and show how computer users can benefit from installing them on their computers.
A Look at Android Tablets is set for 2:30 to 3 p.m.
CLC instructor and webmaster David Shinkfield plans to discuss the major types of tablets available today –iPad, Android, and Surface– and how to use an Android tablet. He will also suggest which applications to download. Shrinkfield is a retired managing partner with the international PA Consulting Group, he worked in the UK, France, Germany and the United States.
Tips on Using Windows 8 is set for 3:15 to 3:45 p.m.
Instructor Clarke Walker will give the audience a brief overview of the Windows 8 platform and advice on navigating the new system. Walker is an independent technology consultant and current president of the Princeton PC Users Group.
Talking with Siri on Your Mobile Apple Device is set for 4 to 4:30p.m.
Instructor Mary Kay Podlecki will introduce the audience to Siri, Apple’s intelligent personal assistant and knowledge navigator. She will discuss how to use it and the future of computer interaction. Podlecki, who retired from Bell System, helps maintain CLC’s computers and networks. She teaches four hands-on iPad classes at the center.
The CLC is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization devoted to teaching hands-on computer skills to older adults. They currently offer 42 courses with more than 35 teachers and staff.
