The Hopewell Valley Youth Chorale is currently auditioning for the 2013-2014 season.
The chorale is seeking singers for its Preparatory and Concert choirs, which perform together and separately.
The Preparatory Choir is for students in grades three through five. It is conducted by Michele Alford.
The Concert Choir, conducted by William Alford, is for students in grades six through nine.
During auditions, students should be prepared to sing scales, echo sing tonal patterns, sing Row, Row, Row Your Boat alone and in cannon and perform either My Country ‘Tis of Thee, America the Beautiful or Jingle Bells.
Children are evaluated on their love of music, pitch, tonal memory skills, rhythm, attitude and ability to commit to the group.
Rehearsals for HVYC’s fall season are set to begin in September at The Pennington School.
Upcoming performances by HVYC include singing the national anthem for the Trenton Thunder set for May 19 and their Spring Concert scheduled for 4 p.m. June 9 at Pennington Presbyterian Church.
In June, the Concert Choir is set to travel to Denver, Colo. for the Sing a Mile High Festival, where they will perform with eight other choirs under the direction of Rollo Dilworth.
