DanceVision Performance Company presents “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” an original ballet based on William Shakespeare’s classic comedy and set to Mendelssohn’s score on Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5. Dancers from West Windsor and Plainsboro include Leo Foster, Manya Zhu, Eric Simon, Raisa Roberto, Nithya Borra, Risa Kaplowitz, Max Azaro, Iris Foster, Alex Inkiow, Josiah Foster, Scarlett Hanks, and Annabel Azaro.
Risa Kaplowitz, DanceVision’s artistic director and a West Windsor resident, created choreography to bring to life the tale of magical characters caught up in a comedic entanglement of love, jealousy, trickery, and fun, where fairies, pixies, and sprites make mischief with the lives of unsuspecting, love-struck mortals. Her past shows include “The Snow Queen” and “The Secret Garden.”
The second act of the performance features “Graduation Ball” with original choreography by David Lichine and staged by Sergio Manolo Molina. Watch what ensues as a group of male cadets are invited to dance at a girl’s school in this humorous and playful ballet.
