Bordentown Regional Middle School students and faculty raised more than $5,400 for the JDRF Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The school held its second annual JDRF Kids Walk Nov. 6. Students and faculty exceeded their fundraising goal and raised more than last year.
On Oct. 24, the school held an assembly to kick off two weeks of fundraising for JDRF. During the assembly a representative from JDRF spoke to the students about Diabetes.
The students were challenged to exceed last year’s total of $3,700. During the two week period, students asked family and friends to held them raise awareness and funds by purchasing “sneakers.”
This year the students were offered grade level incentives. When each grade sold 150 sneakers they were able to “mummy wrap” their teachers with toilet paper. After each grade level sold 300 sneakers, they were able to silly string their teachers.
The final challenge was to sell more than 600 sneakers per grade level, which earned the students the chance to “pie” their principal, assistant principal and a teacher in the face.
