Pierrot Productions is set to present Lovers and Other Strangers at Kelsey Theatre May 31 through June 9.
The comedy is comprised of five vignettes that explore the ins and outs and ups and downs of men, women and relationships.
In one story, characters Mike and Susan are preparing for their upcoming wedding; however, they seem to be the only two that are satisfied with their relationship. Mike’s brother, Richie, and his wife, Joan, are going through a divorce, which is upsetting his Catholic mother Beatrice. Meanwhile, Susan’s father is having an affair, and her older sister is going through her own troubles with her husband. All the while, Mike’s best friend Jerry is trying to bed the maid of honor, Brenda.
Written by husband-and-wife team Renee Taylor and Joe Bologna, the play opened on Broadway in 1968. It was made into a film starring Bonnie Bedelia and Michael Brandon, which was nominated for three Academy Awards.
The Pierrot Productions adaption is directed by Ruth Markoe of Lawrenceville.
The cast features Tim Anderson of Princeton, Vickie Fuller of Yardley, Joe Grosso of Hamilton Square, Michele Kallman of Plainsboro, Rebecca Schier of Lawrenceville and Michael Soltau of West Windsor.
Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. May 31, June 1, 7 and 8 and 2 p.m. June 2 and 9. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance on May 31.
