Meanwhile, in West Windsor, speculation mounts as to who will be running for mayor and two Town Council seats. Independent mayoral candidate Rick Visovsky and running mates Martin Whitfield and Debbie Hepler have formally announced their candidacies; but so far, they are the only ones.
Although it is expected that current Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh and Council members Linda Geevers and Kamal Khanna will all be seeking reelection, none have formally announced that they will be running. Hsueh and Khanna will likely be running together on one ticket, but so far no announcement has been made of the third person for their slate.
Geevers also will likely run for another term, but she is believed to be waiting to see who runs for mayor before she forms a slate.
The mayor’s race has sparked numerous rumors. The big question is whether Hemant Marathe will oppose the incumbent, Hsueh. Marathe, the current president of the WW-P Board of Education, is up for reelection. He has indicated he is undecided about whether he will run for school board or for mayor, but has said that he will not run for both simultaneously. The filing deadline for school board candidates is Tuesday, June 4. If Marathe does not file for the school board, then his run for mayor would be much more likely. And Geevers would likely be on his slate.
Candidates for West Windsor office still have plenty of time to decide. Deputy clerk Gaye Huber announced that candidates for the 2013 municipal election must file application packets by Tuesday, September 30, at 4 p.m. in the clerk’s office. Packets became available on May 1.
Crosswalk Coming
“Great news – a relocated pedestrian crossing is being implemented at 571 and Sherbrooke, complete with a rapid flashing beacon, which is techy talk for a strobe light activated when a pedestrian pushes the button.”
