Unlike the usual Plainsboro Committee meetings, the May 22 meeting began with a “special meeting” that convened at 6 p.m. to discuss a personnel issue. Although it was not confirmed, apparently the Committee was interviewing candidates for the position of Recreation Center director, which has been vacant for several months.
While no personnel news was announced in the open session, the Committee did present two proclamations recognizing Plainsboro student achievements: Prashant Sharma, who received a certificate of participation for being a state finalist in the New Jersey League of Municipalities “future municipal leaders” essay contest; and Benjamin Zhang, the recipient of a $1,000 Comcast scholarship.
The Committee then recessed to the agenda meeting, to discuss items that will appear on the agenda for Wednesday, June 12. The Committee will hold a public hearing on the 2013 bond ordinance as well as reducing the speed limit on Plainsboro/Mapleton Road from 35 to 25 mph.
In addition, the Committee will consider a resolution to amend an agreement between the Township and WW-P school district to change the dates of a service agreement regarding the use of the cable TV station from July 1 to June 30 to January 1 to December 31, to align with the district’s fiscal year. The Committee is expected to extend the dry cleaning contract for police, dispatcher, and civilian clothing, and will be accepting a small “clean communities” grant.
