Golfers teed off at Old Yorke Country Club to support the Alfred G. Doan Jr. Memorial Fund on Aug. 5.
Proceeds from the Alfred Doan Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament are set to benefit Nottingham High School senior athletic scholarships and the Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation.
This year, Nottingham football seniors Jake Andrejcik, McGovern Gbriel, Aaron Levinson, Devin Thompson and Luke Westerberg won the fund’s athletic scholarship.
Twenty-eight foursomes booked all the carts available for play. The winning group in the scramble event at 13 under par was comprised of Tom Boesch, Mike Braender, George Joo and Kurt Amburgey.
Coach “Big Dawg” Adams’ team took second place after three years of winning the event.
The tournament was held in memory of Nottingham football player and coach Alfred G. Doan, who passed away from aplastic anemia in 2006.
