Rita Masterson, 60, died April 25 in Plainsboro. Born in Urbana, Ohio, she lived in New Jersey for 35 years. A registered nurse, she received degrees from Clark State, Sinclair, and Trenton State College, and worked at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital from 1974 to 1977.
Survivors include her sisters Elma Jean White of Springfield, and Marilyn Sue Miller of Dayton; her children Robert and Kathleen Masterson, and several nieces and nephews. Donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Dora P. Newman of West Windsor died May 11 at the University Medical at Princeton. Born in Nutley, she was a longtime resident of West Windsor. She retired after 25 years of service as director of marketing for Meadow Lakes Continuing Care Retirement Community in Hightstown. A longtime member of West Windsor Retirees Association, she was a volunteer for the West Windsor Board of Elections.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Charles F. Newman; her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Albert Kelley of Willingboro; three sisters-in-law, Marta Gallerano of West Caldwell, Josephine O’Gibney of Lakewood, and Catherine Matey of Mechanicsburg, PA; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Newman of Manasquan.
Walter S. Ostroski, 64, of Perth Amboy died May 11 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. Survivors includes a son, Mark Ostroski of Plainsboro. Donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 2600 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902
Pilar T. De Guzman, 83, of Plainsboro died May 16 at home. Born in the Philippines, she moved to New Jersey in 1978.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Teresita and Rene Hilario of Hamilton, and Julie and Blair Kanter of Plainsboro; her sons and daughters-in-law, Albert and Vicky De Guzman of Edison, Junn and Adelle De Guzman of Edison, and Mario and Marissa De Guzman of Pennington; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Jean M. LaForge, 70, of Plainsboro died May 16 at home. Born in Jersey City, she moved to Plainsboro 30 years ago. A registered nurse, she graduated from Saint Peter’s Nursing School.
Survivors include her sons, Robert and Gerald (Critter) LaForge; her daughter, Jennifer M. Jones; and her grandchildren, Kyle, Kade, Maggie, Lizzie, and Caitlin; her brother, Robert Williams; and her sister, Elizabeth Keller.

George Frederick Chandler Sr., 88, of Bridgewater died May 16. Born in Plainsboro, he served in the Army during World War II. He was a homebuilder for Well Built Homes in Bridgewater for more than 50 years.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Beverly J. Smith Chandler; his children and their spouses, George F. and Theresa Chandler Jr., David W. Chandler, Gary R. and Tamara Chandler, Jeffrey W. Chandler, Keith D. and Shelly Chandler, Jeannie Chandler and Tom Perry; his grandchildren, Chandler and Ashley Ouzts, Kevin and Megan Ouzts, Stephanie and Rasmus Nagel; also Daniel, George III, Elliot, Ashley, Alexander, Landon, Matthew, Brandon, Madison, Sydney, Devon, and Brayden Chandler; and great-grandchildren, Jean Fallon and Chandler Lee.

Joseph A. Boykin, 89, of Plano, Texas, died May 16 at home. A long time resident of Princeton Junction, he was a marine engineer. He was a lieutenant in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
Survivors include his two children, Elida Ramberger and Rick Boykin, his daughter-in-law, Kathleen; and two grandchildren, Taylor and Skylar Boykin.

Fernando Lewis Prater, 51, of Plainsboro died May 21 at Merwick Care Center. He lived in Plainsboro for 22 years. A graduate of Essex County College, he worked for the New York City Division of Parks and Recreation.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Prater of East Brunswick; a brother, Fabian Daniels of Hillside; a sister and brother-in-law, Lavette and Franklin of East Brunswick; his grandmothers, Mary Daniels of Newark, and Able Lou Prater of Miami, FL. Funeral services will be Friday, May 25, at 10 a.m., in Brunswick Memorial Home, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick.
Cornelia S. Appelget, 94, of Monroe died May 22 at Monroe Village. Born in Dutch Neck, she lived on the family farm in West Windsor until 1999.
A graduate of Princeton High School, she worked at the Princeton University Press. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dutch Neck and a former Sunday school teacher and member of Corner Brightners and the West Windsor Keen Agers.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sue Appelget; her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and John Wisniewski; her four grandchildren and their spouses, Kristin Appelget, Kevin and Lori Appelget, Katie and Mike Ksenich, and Megan Nieckoski and her fiancee, Carey Martin; and five great-grandchildren, Max and Ava Ksenich and Gillian, Hayden, and Isabelle Appelget.
Calling hours are Friday, May 25, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, 202 Stockton Street, Hightstown; and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Dutch Neck.
