Marian Farrell, a rising sophomore at High School North, attended Princeton Ballet School’s summer intensive program, which selects 100 top students from across the United States and Europe. She has been studying at Princeton Ballet School since 2003. During the program she had a chance to co-choreograph Matsak’s Solo along with Genevieve Ferris.

Four Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey employees have been acknowledged as among the country’s top young executives in Diversity MBA Magazine’s 2012 Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Executive & Emerging Leaders. Honorees include West Windsor resident Balaji Krishnamoorthy, director of data strategy and management.
Honorees were recognized for taking leadership roles at work and valuing higher education. The honorees will be honored at an awards gala in Chicago this September.
#b#Two Become Master Gardeners#/b#
Plainsboro residents, E. Karen Kennedy and Joan Tyson, are now certified Rutgers master gardeners. They graduated from the program run by Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Middlesex County’s Agriculture Department on June 21.
Master gardeners are community volunteers, trained in earth-friendly gardening and environmental principles. Training includes classroom lectures and hands-on practical application of horticulture practices. Graduates are required to volunteer time to their local extension office as a way of educating residents in environmental stewardship.
Activities at Earth Center in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park in South Brunswick include garden maintenance, answering resident inquiries on the MG helpline, harvesting produce for food banks, and horticultural therapy.
Orientation for the next semester of master gardener classes will take place on Thursday and Friday, September 6 and 7, at 42 Riva Avenue, South Brunswick. Classes begin the following week. Call 732-298-5278 for an application.

New Jersey Utilities Association introduced the Trade and Vocational School Scholarships, which are awarded to two qualified students who will be pursuing a trade or vocational degree at an accredited school. One of the scholarships, valued at up to a total of $6,000 depending on the total cost of the vocational program, was given to Macklin McQuade of West Windsor.
