My brother and I were recently two of four grateful recipients of the annual West Windsor-Plainsboro Soccer Association Scholarships. I just wanted to publicly thank and recognize the local organization for everything that it has done and accomplished for the youth in our community.
Soccer is a year-round sport in this area. From the crisp frost-covered mornings in the fall, to the stuffy indoor gyms in the winter, through the muddy games in spring, and finally the dry late nights of the summer — WWPSA has provided fun and competitive soccer for residents of all ages.
From my first hand experience, I can say that my life would not be the same without this organization. Even today, I can proudly say that my closest friends are from my first recreational soccer team. A child develops friendships, leadership skills, and life-long healthy habits from playing soccer in a supportive environment like the one here.
The WWPSA organization consists of mainly volunteers ranging from the supportive parents on the sidelines, all the way up to the board members. All of these individuals deserve recognition and thanks for the timeless hours that they have contributed to the success of this league. WWPSA has rapidly grown in the past decade to become one of the most successful leagues in a very competitive soccer region. The fields here are top-notch, the quality of play is high, and the Annual Sunburst Tournament has become a long-loved tradition for many young players in the area.
It is no secret that many factors go into making an average community into a great community like West Windsor-Plainsboro. Our school system may seem to always get the credit, but we should also always remember to recognize the importance of great local organizations like WWPSA.

A life-long soccer player, Wu now attends the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. His brother, Jesse, is going to New York University. Samara Per, another WWPSA scholarship recipient, attends Northeastern University. Heather Deamond has enrolled at Salisbury University and hopes to play soccer at the varsity level there.
