Plainsboro Public Library will host an art reception for artist Pablo Riestra, a Plainsboro resident who exhibits a series of striking large format oil portraits sized at 36 inches square. Featured is a portrait of Janet Jeffers, a long time Plainsboro resident and a library founder. “Once inside the main gallery space, the viewer is treated to a wide variety of art techniques that are both bold and exquisitely detailed,” says Donna Senopoulos, director of the gallery. “They include pencil portraits and charcoal figures, watercolor still life, architectural renderings, oil florals, and even some abstract paintings.”
Riestra was born in Cuba and raised in Spain. He began his art education at the Escuela Superior de Arquitectura de Valencia. He later earned a professional degree in architecture at the University of Miami, and received the FAIA bronze medal award by the Florida Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
He has worked as an architecture associate at Michael Graves & Associates in Princeton for 11 years. Riestra’s portfolio is full of complementary applications in the field of the arts including photography, graphic design, drawings, paintings, architecture, and other related computer designs.
Dedicated to the spread of the arts and its appreciation by the general public, Riestra has shared his knowledge, techniques, and experience by teaching geometry, perspective, shading, computer software, and realistic pencil portraits in both private and adult community centers such as West Windsor-Plainsboro Community Education, Princeton Adult School, and at Plainsboro Public Library.
