Hamilton Township Fire District No. 2 – Mercerville Fire Company responded to 90 incidents in September. Included in the calls were seven fires, 32 Emergency Medical Service incidents, four motor vehicle accidents with injuries, two extrication of victim from vehicle, six hazardous conditions with no fire, three service calls, 18 good intent calls and 18 fire alarms and false calls.
In the recently held elections, Donald L. Wilno was elected President, Justin L. Henson, Vice President and Henry W. Ryan, Treasurer.
Probationary firefighters Michael Bitonti and Zachary Pappas are attending firefighter 1 at the Dempster Fire Training Center. Mercerville has three new volunteers, Wisdom Agyei, Mitchell P. Worbettz Jr. and Matthew Joiner.
Hamilton Township Fire District No. 3 – Rusling Hose Company responded to 88 incidents in September. Included were 10 fires, 30 Rescue and EMS incidents, five hazardous conditions with no fire, eight service calls, 20 good intent calls and 15 false alarm and false calls.
Hamilton Township Fire District No. 4 – Hamilton and Enterprise Fire Companies responded to 71 incidents in September. Included were 13 fires, 25 emergency medical assignments, five hazardous conditions with no fire, three service calls, 16 good intent calls and nine false calls or false alarms. As of the end of September, they have responded to 783 incidents.
Hamilton Township Fire District No. 5 – DeCou Hose Company members responded to 44 incidents during September. Included were 38 fire calls and six emergency medical service assignments.
Hamilton Township Fire District No. 6 – White Horse Fire Company responded to 114 incidents in September. Included were 46 fires, 58 Emergency Medical Assignments and 10 motor vehicle accidents. As of the end of September, they have responded to 1,127 incidents.
On Sept. 17, Station 16 responded to a dwelling fire in the area of White Horse Avenue and South Olden Avenue. Upon arrival, units found smoke showing from 2220 South Olden Ave. A full first alarm was struck. Fire was found and extinguished between the floor and the basement. There was one reported injury to a firefighter that was non life threatening.
Responding units were White Horse Engine 16 and Engine 16-1, DeCou Hose Engine 15 and Special Services 15, Mercerville Engine 12, Colonial Engine 18, Rusling Hose Truck 13, Hamilton Ladder 14, Groveville Engine 19 rapid intervention team and Robbinsville Engine 40 rapid intervention team. The fire is being investigated by the Mercer County Fire Marshals Office and Groveville Fire Marshal Michael Danbury.
Hamilton Township Fire District No.7 – Nottingham Fire Company responded to 107 incidents during September. Included 33 emergency medical service incidents, eight motor vehicle accidents, eight hazardous conditions with no fire, two service calls, 27 good intent calls and 29 false alarm or false calls.
Hamilton Township Fire District No. 8 – Colonial Fire Company responded to 44 incidents in September.
Hamilton Township Fire District No. 9 – Groveville Fire Company responded to a total of 79 calls for September. They included three fire calls, 32 emergency medical calls, nine motor vehicle accidents with injuries, one extraction of victim from vehicle, four hazardous conditions with no fire, 13 good intent calls and 17 false alarm calls.
Groveville Fire reminds Hamilton residents to change the batteries in their smoke detectors when they change their clocks on Nov. 4. If you cannot reach your detector, call your local fire department for assistance.
During Groveville’s Annual Fire Prevention Week Open House on Friday, Oct. 12, it announced the winners of its Coloring Contest and Poster Contest. First place winners each received a $50 gift card to Toys-R-Us; 2nd place received $40 cards; and 3rd place received $30 cards. The 1st place winners from each age group were: Grow-Ville Daycare: 2-3 year olds: Bianca Maldonado, 4-5 year olds: Matthew Prihola. CYO Day Care: 2-3 year olds: Aarit Ray, 4-5 year olds: Simren Madhusudhan, Kindergarten Prep, 2-3 year olds: Gia Windfuhr, 4-5 year olds: Maria Guarraggi. Lakeview Child Care: 2-3 year olds: Lydia Catalano, 4-5 year olds: Lia Pica. Yardville School: Pre-K: Anna Acuna, Kindergarten: Kiana Tamagno, 1st grade: Marisela Mannino, 2nd grade: Cory Wassal, 3rd grade: Joseph Salsana, 4th grade: Sam Horne. The grand prize winners are 5th graders and each received a bicycle. Best Girl: Jessica Ridge and Best Boy: Savion Cooper.
Mercer County Fire Marshals Office investigated one incident in September.
Sept. 24 – Pennington Road fire district – Woodland Avenue. Fire on the first floor of a two story single family dwelling did severe damage throughout the structure. The cause was an overloaded electrical outlet that was utilized to supply electric power to numerous household appliances.
