West Windsor Plainsboro Dance Company presents “The Nutcracker Suite” on Saturday, December 1, at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, December 2, at 1 p.m. at Grover Middle School on Village Road in West Windsor. Tickets are $11.
Discover the magic of Clara’s thrilling adventures which took place one wondrous night long ago. As the charming story of the Nutcracker unfolds, children and adults of all ages will delight in the narrated version of the classic tale of a young girl’s journey to the Land of the Snow and the Land of the Sweets. The music of Tchaikovsky highlights a choreographed production that features ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, and hip hop.
Rebecca Schwartz, a junior at High School North, dances the role of Clara. “I have been dancing at the Dance Corner for three years now and before that I danced at Princeton Ballet School,” she says. “To finally be Clara in the Nutcracker after all these years of dance is such an honor. I’m so excited to dance the last dance on stage at the end of the show; it will be such an amazing experience.”
Ryan Wilityer, also a junior at North, dances the role of the Prince for the second consecutive year. “I enjoy working with the cast and it is a great start to the holiday season,” he says. He is the son of Roni, one of the choreographers, co-founder of the dance company, and one of the dancers in the production. His father, Peter, has been involved with set building for many years and appears on stage in this production. The newest Wilityer performing this year is Aria, age 4, the niece of Roni and Peter.
Jessica Lewinson, a junior at High School South, dances the roles of the Snow Queen and the Ballerina Doll. Juliana Isnardi, a junior at High School North, portrays the Tap Doll. Marguerite Girandola, a junior at High School North, dances the roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Chinese Tea.
