The Crisis Ministry of Mercer County received two grants to develop their programs.
The $10,000 grant was awarded by the Church & Dwight Employee Giving Fund. The fund’s mission is to provide employees with the means to financially assist low-income people. Church & Dwight Co said it matches employees’ contributions to charitable organizations.
“We are grateful for the generosity and leadership shown by the employees of Church and Dwight,” Crisis Ministry’s executive director Carolyn Biondi said.
The grant was to be used to develop the ministry’s Homelessness Prevention and Housing Stability program. According to Biondi, the program has helped to stabilize 652 low-income households in 2012 with back rent, security deposits, utilities or mortgage payments, and case management services.
The Crisis Ministry also received a $15,000 from the James Kerney Foundation. The James Kerney Foundation’s mission is to support education, family services and community development in Trenton and surrounding areas by providing grants for building, renovations and capital.
The grant was provided to fund refrigeration units for the Crisis Ministry’s East Hanover Street pantry.
Biondi said the refrigerators will support the ministry’s goal to provide more produce and proteins to the low-income people who come to food pantry when they are in need.
