The Princeton Junction Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 has received $20,295 in federal funding to help train and equip the department’s personnel, Representative Rush Holt announced.
According to a press release from Holt’s office, the fire department successfully applied for the grant through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) “Assistance to Firefighters Grants” program. The award will be used to fund the purchase of personal protective equipment; training; wellness and fitness and safety modifications to the department’s facilities; and vehicle acquisition.
Every year Holt hosts a “Fire Grant Workshop” to help fire departments in central New Jersey in applying for grant funding.
“The Assistance to Firefighters Grants program provides direct support to fire departments seeking to improve their first responders’ preparedness and ability to protect the health and safety of the public,” Holt said. “I am always pleased to see local first responders obtain the funding they need to serve our communities, and am glad to see the Princeton Junction Volunteer Fire Company receive this funding.”
The grant was awarded to the Princeton Junction fire company through a competitive process in which applications were evaluated by experts in fire service.
