Tyco closed out the year by entering the first step of the expansion project that had received Planning Board approval in August.
The Township Council approved a land development performance guarantee agreement with Tyco for its plans to develop a covered walkway between the two buildings on the Tyco site, as well as expansion of the cafeteria space at the Roszel Road facility.
The application called for a covered walkway of about 2,850 square feet to connect the two office buildings on site, which total 292,000 square feet and hold 500 employees. The walkway will provide shelter to employees who travel between the two buildings.
In addition, Tyco — the leading provider of security products and services, fire protection and detection products and services, valves and controls, and other industrial products — will add an additional 1,260 square feet to the dining and cafeteria area, which currently only seats 75 employees.
The expansion will increase the capacity to 150 seats and, Tyco officials say, decrease the number of employees who travel off the site for lunch.
Tyco officials estimated the project would cost over $2 million.
The performance guarantee bonds accepted by the Township Council on December 20 to “secure the installation of site improvements” were worth $17,276.49 and cash in the amount of $1,919.61.
