Leaving the Scene. Charles W. Cook, 65, of West Windsor was charged January 14 with leaving the scene of a crash involving serious injury.
Officer Lee Evans said Cook was driving on Village Road East in his pick-up truck just before 8 a.m. when he struck Sharain Wason, 51, of West Windsor, who was walking on the shoulder of the road at the time.
Evans said Cook left the scene and returned a short time later. The victim sustained serious bodily injury and was transported to Helene Fuld Trauma Center in Trenton, where she was listed in critical but stable condition. Cook was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to maintain a lane, and failure to report an accident.
Criminal Mischief. A Princeton resident was the victim of criminal mischief on January 14 in the Trader Joe’s parking lot. Sergeant William Bastedo said the victim’s car sustained two scratches on the driver’s side door. The damage was estimated to be $750.
Drug Arrests. Jonathan Q. Nichols, 24, of Trenton, was charged January 16 with possession of marijuana under 50 grams. Officer Ted Hojnacki said he stopped him for running a red light at the intersection of Nassau Park Boulevard and Road D and found he had a $500 warrant out of Trenton. During the arrest, Hojnacki said he found him to be in possession of marijuana. He was also charged with failure to observe a signal, driving while suspended, and being an unlicensed driver.
Lillian I. Blasco, 20, of East Windsor, and a juvenile female Plainsboro resident were charged January 14 with possession of marijuana under 50 grams.
Officer Christopher Van Ness said he was investigating a suspicious vehicle on Winterberry Way. Upon speaking with Blasco, the driver, Van Ness said he smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.
He said he searched the vehicle and found marijuana in the passenger compartment and in possession of the juvenile. Both were charged.
