The Township Council has adopted three ordinances to allow the township to acquire easements from three property owners for road widening, utility, and drainage associated with the Meadow Road reconstruction project and the sanitary sewer extension of the Duck Pond Run interceptor.
Two of the property owners — Palladium Realty LLC (which represents the Mack-Cali Realty Corporation) and Princeton Land Partners LLC — came to an agreement with the township and were not seeking compensation for the acquisitions. According to the ordinances, adopted February 16, each property owner has agreed to accept $1 from the township.
However, the township is using eminent domain to acquire portions of the property belonging to West Windsor Realty Trust because the township has tried to negotiate with the property owner but has not come to an agreement. The township will pay a fair market value of $55,600 for the land.
Sweeper Purchased. The West Windsor Township Council approved the purchase of a new regenerative air street sweeper for the Department of Public Works at a price tag of $209,970.
The measure, approved February 16, was made after the township received only one bid for the new street sweeper from H.A. DeHart & Son Inc., of Thorofare. Funding for the new truck comes from the capital budget. Councilwoman Linda Geevers voted against the measure because there had only been one company that submitted a bid for the sweeper.
