In Town

GroWW (Greening of West Windsor) committee seeks West Windsor residents to nominate and/or volunteer gardens for the tour on Saturday, June 26. A self-guided map will allow walkers, bikers, and drivers to tour gardens at their own pace. The committee is interested in flower, vegetable, and container gardens. SmileTrain benefits through Miles of Smiles, a 5K race on Sunday, March 28, at 10 a.m., at West Windsor Community Park. Organized by Noah Wolfe of West Windsor for his Bar Mitzvah project, all proceeds benefit children in India and China. For Kids

Cotsen Children’s Library is seeking works for its inaugural writing competition for ages 8 to 16. Write a short story (350 words maximum) that includes the sentence “It was empty, and they were gone.” Deadline is Monday, March 15, 5 p.m. Three age categories. Submit via E-mail to danas@princeton.edu. Include your name, age, and mailing address. Winners will be notified by postal mail.

Volunteer Please

New Jersey Blood Services seeks volunteers to work blood drives to assist donors with registration, escorting, snacks, and to watch for post-donation reactions. The Arts

VSA Arts is accepting registration for its annual Partners in the Arts Festival on Wednesday, May 19, at Middlesex County College in Edison, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day offers opportunities for children and adults with and without disabilities to participate in performances, exhibits, and arts workshops. Pennington Autism Lifelong Services (PALS) invites registration for its third annual Poker Run, an event that combines riding, driving, and touring, on Saturday, May 22. The event begins at Pennington Market Shopping Center, Route 31, at 9 a.m., and ends at Hopewell Valley Vineyards, 46 Yard Road, Pennington beginning at 1:30 p.m. $25 per rider/driver; $10 per passenger on bike or ragtop; $10 for non-riders joining festivities. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mercer County invite registration and donations for its annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake event on Saturday, April 17, at Colonial Lanes, Lawrenceville. The organization matches children with adult mentors in one-to-one relationships to transform the life of a child and an adult to transform schools, neighborhoods, and communities for the better. Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce offers a free prescription card to residents of Mercer and surrounding areas. The card can provide savings of up to 75 percent on prescription drugs and is accepted at more than 50,000 pharmacies. It can be used by multiple members of a household. Lawrenceville Library seeks male actors to play college-aged characters in its One Act Play Festival on Saturday, April 24.
