The West Windsor-Plainsboro school district is looking for consultants to help it evaluate its K-12 language arts and social studies programs.
The district sent out two separate invitations to qualified consultants seeking proposals for their services — one for the language arts and one for the social studies programs. In both cases, the district is looking for a consultant to work with district personnel and an internal task force to evaluate the existing programs.
Proposals are due on Friday, March 12. Proposals for the social studies program review will be submitted to Dennis Lepold, the principal at Grover, while proposals for the language arts program review will be submitted to Denise Mengani, the principal at Maurice Hawk.
The consultants will work collaboratively with the committees, headed by a school principal and the respective supervisors for social studies and language arts. The committee will also include faculty members representing all district school levels and a member of the board of education, who will serve as liaison to the board, parents, and students.
The district also expects the consultants’ work to include class visits and interviews of staff at all district schools, conducting of focus groups with district parents and students and recent graduates; submittal of an evaluation report and recommendations; and four days of observation of classes at each of the buildings.
Officials anticipate proposals to be submitted this month, with contracts awarded in April, and data gathering in the spring. A presentation of the draft reports for each evaluation are expected to head to the school board’s curriculum committee in June.
