They could practically open their own museum with all the artwork more than 800 students at Dutch Neck Elementary School in West Windsor have created for a school-wide fundraiser. Proceeds from the art auction will be donated to the West Windsor-Plainsboro Education Foundation, a private non-profit that fosters educational excellence, creativity and achievement within the WW-P schools. The event will be held on Thursday, April 8, from 7 to 10:30 p.m., at Mercer Oaks Golf Club.
“All the students at the school are participating in the art auction,” says Joan Fennell, PTA President at Dutch Neck, who has been instrumental in organizing the event. “Each classroom is working on a unique collaborative piece of artwork. These works include paintings, mosaics, ceramics, furniture, wire art sculptures, and photographs, and so much more.”
Collaboratively organized by the Dutch Neck Elementary School PTA and the teachers and staff at the school, this special event is part of the theme for this school year, “Dexter’s Good Deeds.” The school mascot, Dexter, was a featured guest at the school as the students finalized their artwork for the live auction, which will be run by the professional services of Alfred’s Auctions.
Cranberry’s Gourmet has donated desserts for the event. Raffles include jewelry donated by MB Designs, Southern Living items donated by Sally O’Kelly, books from Borders, and more.
“The West Windsor-Plainsboro Education Foundation assisted Dutch Neck in starting our garden, and our children have benefited so much learning science with hands on experiences in the garden,” says Fennell. “This is our opportunity to give back to the foundation.”
