Princeton Ballet School presents the classic ballet, “The Sleeping Beauty,” on Saturday May 8, at 2 and 7 p.m. at the Patriots Theater at the War Memorial in Trenton. Plainsboro resident Linda Wang will be performing the lead role of the “Lilac Fairy” in the matinee performance. The school’s adaptation of Marius Petipa’s classic ballet is directed by Douglas Martin and Mary Pat Robertson, with additional re-staging and choreography by Maria Youskevitch and the Princeton Ballet School faculty. The 19th century ballet is set to the music of Tchaikovsky.
More than 400 dancer perform in the production. West Windsor students include Kerry Glynn, Lauren Hausheer, Lexie Hausheer, Marina Lourenco, Caroline Palmer, Nicole Potenza, Alexis Ritterbush, Anna Sattiraju, Kathleen Schwartz, Rebecca Schwartz, Sarah Siman, Nicole Tong, Erin Yeh, and Lilian Zhou.
Plainsboro dancers include Cate Bashore, Emmanuelle Farrell, Marian Farrell, Suyang Gong, Cathy Huang, Kaila Jones, Sophia Kandalin, Caroline Kudela, Chelsea McLean, Veepra Mishra, Jazlyn Morales, Utku Ozdemir, Jason Rand, Camille Redmond, and Talise Redmond.
“This performance allows students of Princeton Ballet School to understand the process of putting together a ballet,” says Robertson. “From the beginning student to the pre-professional student, this experience allows all our students to be part of a professional-level production.”
