North: A first place finish in the Central Jersey, Group III sectional championship, 83-72, over Ocean Township on May 22. Joe Rosa broke the record in the 3,200-meter run in a time of 9:01.57. He also broke the 1,600-meter run record with a time of 4:12.69. Greg Caldwell won the 110 intermediate hurdles in 14.91. Corey Abernathy took home the championship in the shot put, with a 168-11. 100-meter dash: 6.) Chris Banks, 11.38. 400-Meter Run: 5.) Chris Banks, 50.64. 800-Meter Run: 2.) Jim Rosa, 1:54.97, 6.) Matt Kelly, 1:56.94. Javelin: 6.) Derrick Zhang, 141-10.

South: A second place finish in the Central Jersey, Group IV sectional on May 22, with a score of 65. 400-meter run: 4.) A.J. Chavez, 50.34. 800-meter run: 2.) Sam Macaluso, 1:54.63; 4.) Brian Schoepfer, 1:55.13. 1,600-meter run: 1.) Sam Macaluso, 9:26.72; 2.) Brian Schoepfer, 9:32.18; 3.) Max Margiotta, 9:36.49. Triple Jump: 3.) Alex Prieto, 44-10.5. Pole Vault: 6.) Dan Callahan, 11-6.

Sam Macaluso broke the record in his first place finish in the 1,600-meter run, with a time of 4:14.63 at the Group IV sectional final on May 21. The former record was 4:15.41. Brian Schoepfer placed second with a time of 4:15.87. South ended the day in fifth place as a team.

Girls’ Track

North: A sixth place finish, with 33 points, at the Group III sectional championships on May 22. 100-meter dash: 6.) Ryan Williams, 12.93. 3,200-Meter Run: 4.) South (8-0): A 10th-place finish, with 20 points, in the Central Jersey Group IV sectional championships on May 22. 400-meter run: 5.) Emily Mauro, 58.22. 1,600-meter run: 2.) Caroline Kellner, 10:49.52. 100-meter hurdles: 4.) Ashleigh Delemos, 15.80. High Jump: 4.) Paige Brown, 5-2. 1,600-Meter Relay: 5.) South, 3:59.28.

The South girls claimed the CVC Colinial Division crown with a perfect 8-0 season.
